In September 2009 Pieris entered into a collaboration agreement with Allergan, Inc. (NYSE: AGN) that combines Pieris´proprietary Anticalin technology with Allergan´s expertise in drug delivery and ophthalmic drug development with a goal of developing agents for the treatment of serious ocular disorders.

In October 2007 Pieris entered into a research collaboration with Pepscan Therapeutics for the discovery of novel GPCR binding Anticalins. Pepscan will use it Clips technology to identify GPCR mimicking peptides that will be used by Pieris for Anticalin screening and further drug development.


In April 2006, Pieris signed a research collaboration with GE Healthcare for the discovery of novel targeted in vivo diagnostic and medical imaging compounds based on Anticalins. The parties are developing novel agents for the early detection and diagnosis for diseases such as cancer. Pieris has retained all rights for therapeutic use.

In April 2005, Pieris entered into an agreement with Syngenta AG of Basel, Switzerland to develop an Anticalin based therapeutic to treat asthma, a disease with high unmet medical need. In December 2006, Pieris regained full control over the drug candidates after the partner abandoned all biotech activities.


In July 2003, Pieris formed a strategic alliance with the Technical University of Munich in order to broaden the company's technology base and secure further developments in the basic understanding of lipocalins and Anticalins. Any patent rights arising are assigned to Pieris and the company has the exclusive right to in-license future inventions in the area of lipocalins and Anticalins.
